Skimonline.com Launches N…

by: Levin

Skimonline.com has been lurking around on the internet since the mid 90's... in fact since before Yahoo! even existed. For better or worse the online hub of skimboarding's look and feel remained relativity unchanged for the better part of the last 15 years, until now. The change is more than just cosmetic. Everything about SkimOnline is being restructured from the ground up. Daily news updates. Full time staff. Tight industry collaboration. All with one goal in mind, pushing skimboarding to the next level, again. Woody Harris is joining SkimOnline as its full time content manager. His job wil…

Selleck + Waterfall + SandwichThis is kind of amazing. I don't get it, but it leaves me wanting more. It's Tom Selleck, waterfalls and sandwiches.

Airboarding?

German speaking people never cease to amaze me, whether its their mastery of English slang (see 1:11 in the video) or reinventing ridiculous new ways to slide down snow covered mountains.

Skier CR Johnson Killed in Squaw Valley Accident
by: Levin

Photo: Nate AbbottCR Johnson: October 8th 1983 - February 24th 2010Yesterday afternoon I received the unfortunate and saddening news that CR Johnson died earlier that morning while skiing at Squaw Valley after impacting rocks.

Much can be said; and in the few short hours since his passing much has already been said, about his enthusiasm for skiing and his positive outlook on life while battling through adversities. Early on in my involvement with skiing I had the pleasure of working and skiing with CR while filming and editing for Poor Boyz Productions as well as my own video projects. He was without question one of the most genuinely friendly, positive people I've had the pleasure of knowing, in the ski industry or otherwise. Although we'd drifted out of touch in subsequent years, when our paths occasionally crossed at the random ski trade show or on hill somewhere, often times years apart, the friendship and positive energy picked up right where it left off without missing a beat.

My thoughts go out to CR's family and friends. You'll be missed and won't be forgotten.

More reflection on the life of CR Johnson:
